First Aid for Social Cohesion!

Working Together for Greater Self-Confidence, Health and Inclusion

Offering help is not a privilege, but a skill that strengthens and unites us all.

Our project, “First Aid for Cohesion,” teaches people on the run practical first-aid skills. In this way, we help them navigate everyday life more effectively while also strengthening our sense of community. Together, we’re taking the first step toward greater self-confidence, better health, and increased participation.

Project Objectives:

  • Improving healthcare access in shelters
  • Promoting social inclusion and self-confidence
  • Opening up new career opportunities, particularly in the healthcare sector
  • Building sustainable networks and long-term advocacy structures

Why are we offering this project to people on the run?

People on the run in Germany often face obstacles in the healthcare system: language barriers, complicated procedures, and long wait times make it difficult to receive prompt care. Through our free first aid courses, we aim to help bridge this gap in care and facilitate access to professional assistance. We uphold the human right to health and, through our program, promote participants’ self-help capabilities, safety, and well-being.

How are the courses conducted?

Our first aid workshops are held as one-day courses directly at housing facilities or at an agreed-upon location. The training sessions are practical, easy to understand, and focus on everyday emergencies, such as injuries, illnesses, or accidents. Trained instructors ensure that all content is conveyed in a clear and culturally sensitive manner. The courses are conducted in German or English; upon request, other languages can also be offered with the assistance of language interpreters. Upon completion, participants receive a certificate on-site, which can further enhance career prospects in the healthcare sector or, for example, provide a solid foundation for obtaining a driver’s license.

Get Involved & Contact Us

This program is open to people on the run aged 16 and older who want to improve their own safety and that of those around them—regardless of prior experience. If you’re interested in hosting a workshop at your housing facility, please contact us directly. We provide guidance, organize the workshops, and conduct them on-site on an individual basis, with a maximum of 15 participants.
